Content approval is the step where a brand reviews what you have made before it is published. Most deals of any size include one.

Why it is worth agreeing carefully

Approval is the stage that most often runs over. The content is finished, the deadline is approaching, and you are waiting on someone who has other work. Meanwhile the posting date is still the posting date.

What to pin down

  • How many rounds of revisions are included. Two is common. Unlimited is not a scope.
  • How long they have to respond. Without a deadline on their side, only yours is real.
  • What happens if they miss it. Does the posting date move, or do you post the last approved version?
  • What counts as a change versus a new deliverable. A different edit is a revision; a different concept is new work.

The practical version

Send it earlier than feels necessary, and send one version rather than three options. Choice slows approval down more than quality problems do.
