- Algorithm
- The ranking system deciding which posts each person is shown, and in what order.

- Batching
- Making several pieces of content in one session instead of one at a time.
- Brand deal
- A paid agreement to make content featuring a company's product, on terms you both agree in advance.

- Collab
- Making content together with another creator, usually without money changing hands.
- Content approval
- The brand reviewing your content before it goes live.

- The three or four recurring subjects your posting comes back to.
- Contract
- The written agreement setting out what both sides owe each other.
- CPM
- Cost per thousand views. What a brand pays for every 1,000 people who see the post.
- Creator economy
- The industry around people who make content and earn from it directly.
- Cross-posting
- Putting the same content on more than one platform.

- Deliverable
- One specific thing you have promised a brand: a post, a video, a story, an appearance.

- Engagement rateFull guide
- Interactions divided by the people who saw a post.
- Evergreen content
- Posts that stay useful long after they go up, rather than expiring with a trend.
- Exclusivity
- An agreement not to work with a brand's competitors for an agreed period.

- Flat fee
- A fixed price for the work, regardless of how it performs.

- Hook
- The first line or first second of a post, which decides whether the rest is watched.

- Impressions
- Every time a post was displayed, including repeat views by the same person.
- Invoice
- The document requesting payment, which is usually what starts the clock.

- Media kit
- A summary of your audience, numbers and rates, sent to brands who ask.

- Rate card
- Your standard prices, written down before a brand asks.
- Reach
- How many separate people saw a post, counted once each.
- Repurposing
- Turning one piece of content into several, in different formats.
- Retainer
- A recurring fee for an agreed amount of work each month, rather than a one-off deal.

- Watch time
- How long people actually watch, which most video platforms weight more heavily than likes.
