Vantr - Cookie Policy

1.What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on your next request, which is how you stay signed in from one page to the next.

1.2

This Policy covers cookies and similar browser storage used by the Vantr application and website. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.

2.The cookies we set

2.1

We keep this list short on purpose. In full, it is:

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR, because the Service cannot function without them. The theme preference cookie stores only a display choice and no personal data.

3.The choices on the cookie notice

3.1

The notice groups cookies into the same four categories most established products use. Strictly necessary is always on. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland each of the others is off until you allow it:

Strictly necessary: signing in, security, remembering your cookie choices and your theme. Always on, because Vantr cannot work without them.
Functional: remembering preferences and settings so Vantr feels the way you left it.
Performance & Analytics: product analytics through PostHog, and a record of the pages you open in the app and the errors you run into (kept 90 days), so we can see where people get stuck.
Advertising: measuring whether our ads on other sites bring people to Vantr. We do not run any advertising cookies or pixels today. If we add them, they will load only for people who have allowed this category.

3.2

In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, Accept all turns every optional category on, Reject (or closing the notice) keeps only the strictly necessary cookies, and Manage preferences lets you choose each one.

3.3

Visitors in Quebec get the same opt-in choice as the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland.

3.4

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a choice to turn off the optional Performance & Analytics and Advertising categories, wherever you are.

3.5

Everywhere else, a short privacy notice explains that by continuing to use Vantr you agree to our use of cookies, and the optional categories are on. Its "Do not sell my personal information" link opens the same choices, where you can turn any optional category off.

3.6

The Vantr apps for iPhone and Android don't show the notice. Where the law needs you to opt in (the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland), the apps keep only strictly necessary cookies; elsewhere they use the same settings as the short notice above. The apps never use advertising cookies. Change any of it under Settings, Cookie settings.

3.7

Wherever you are, Cookie settings at the bottom of every page reopens your choices so you can change your mind at any time. If you are signed in, your choice is also saved to your account, so you are not asked again when you sign in on a new browser or private window.

3.8

We never sell or share browsing data, and we do not use session-recording scripts or cross-site tracking.

4.Local storage

4.1

Alongside cookies, the Service uses your browser's local storage to hold a draft of a post you are composing, so an accidental refresh or a dropped connection does not lose your work.

4.2

That draft stays in your browser, is not transmitted to us as a cookie, and is cleared when the post is published or the draft is discarded. Clearing your browser data removes it.

4.3

Local storage also holds a copy of your cookie choices, and, if you arrived through a referral or campaign link, that link's code until you sign up, so the right person gets the credit. While Performance & Analytics is allowed, it also holds the first page you visited and the site that sent you.

5.Managing cookies

5.1

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser offers this under its privacy or security settings.

5.2

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in, because there is no other way for us to recognise your session. Blocking the theme cookie only means your appearance choice is not remembered between visits.

5.3

Cookies set by the platforms you connect are governed by those platforms' own cookie policies, not this one.

6.Changes to this Policy

6.1

If we add a cookie, we will update the table in section 2 and change the effective date at the top of this document. Optional cookies follow your choice on the cookie notice, and in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland they are only ever set after you allow their category.
