Vantr vs Later: visual planning against a creator business

Later is built around the Instagram grid and does it beautifully. Vantr is built around what happens after the post goes out. Where each one fits.

Later grew up around Instagram, and it shows in the best way. The visual planner, where you drag images into a grid and see how the feed will look before anything publishes, is the feature people stay for. If your Instagram feed is a designed object rather than a stream of posts, Later understands that in a way most schedulers do not.

Vantr is not trying to beat that. It is aimed at a different problem.

Pricing

Later's published plans:

PlanPriceNotes
Starter$18.75 / month billed yearlyPage showed a 25% off promotion; limited to 1 user
Growth$37.50 / month billed yearlyPage showed a 25% off promotion
Scale$82.50 / month billed yearlyPage showed a 25% off promotion

Later's pricing and features checked on 9 September 2026, from their own site.

Two things to read carefully. The prices above were shown with a promotion applied, and promotional pricing is not the price you renew at, so check what it becomes. And Later's Starter plan is limited to one user, with additional users and social sets sold as add-ons.

Vantr is $12, $29 or $49 a month per workspace with every channel included, and there is a free tier. Vantr has a free tier. It is not a trial that expires: you can connect a channel, schedule posts and use the creator profile without paying, and the paid plans start at $12 a month.

What Later does better

The visual planner. Nothing in Vantr previews your Instagram grid as a grid. If your feed's overall look is a real part of your brand, that is a genuine reason to pick Later and it is not close.

Instagram depth. Later has spent a decade on one platform's specifics. That accumulates.

Media library. Later's asset organisation is more developed than Vantr's, which is a straightforward library rather than a system of collections.

What Vantr does that Later does not

Later manages content. It does not manage the business the content is for.

Vantr carries a deal pipeline with stages, deliverables as tracked rows with their own due dates, invoices with payment links that log income when marked paid, contracts the brand signs in the browser, and an earnings view that puts money next to reach.

If your Instagram is a portfolio that wins you paid work, the work itself lives somewhere else when you use Later. It lives in Vantr.

Platform coverage

Vantr publishes to 12 platforms. Later covers the major networks well, with Instagram as the centre of gravity.

The question is where you actually post. If it is Instagram, with the others as occasional cross-posts, Later's focus is a feature. If you are genuinely spread across TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and three others, the centre of gravity works against you.

Who should pick Later

You are Instagram-first and the grid matters. You plan visually and think in layouts. You do not take many brand deals, or you have a system for them you like.

Who should pick Vantr

You post across many platforms and want one price for all of them. You take brand deals and want them tracked next to the content. You want to know what a month earned, not just what it reached.

Running both

This is a real option and worth saying out loud. Some people plan the Instagram grid in Later because nothing else does it as well, and run deals, invoices and cross-platform publishing in Vantr. Two subscriptions is not automatically wrong when the tools solve different problems.

What switching actually involves

Connecting a channel to Vantr imports its existing posts and lifetime totals, so analytics are not blank on day one. Follower history is the exception, and it is an exception everywhere: no platform will hand back yesterday's follower count, so that line starts the day you connect. Any tool that shows you a full year of follower history from a fresh connection is drawing it, not reporting it.

Your Later-planned grid does not transfer, because it is a plan rather than data. Anything already published comes across as published.

A sensible order: connect one channel, let the import finish, and compare the numbers against the platform's own app before trusting anything. Then add the rest.

Common questions

Does Vantr have a visual Instagram grid planner? No. This is the clearest single thing Later does that Vantr does not. If the grid layout is part of your brand, that is a real reason to stay.

Is Vantr cheaper than Later? Usually, and the gap widens with channels. Later's promotional pricing also renews higher, so compare the renewal price rather than the first-year price. Vantr's free tier means you can check the fit before paying anything.

Can I use both? Yes, and some people do. Plan the grid in Later, run deals and cross-platform publishing in Vantr.

Does Vantr cover Instagram properly? It publishes to Instagram including Reels, with per-channel captions and previews in Instagram's own chrome. Later has more Instagram-specific depth. Both are true.

What happens to my scheduled Later posts if I move? They stay in Later and publish from Later. Nothing cancels them. Schedule new work in whichever tool you have decided on and let the old queue drain.
