Grouped by what you are actually posting, because "'tis the season" is doing a lot of heavy lifting out there.
Christmas content runs Tuesday, 1 December 2026 to Friday, 25 December 2026, starting in about 12 weeks.
The tree and the decorations
- Took four hours. Two of them were untangling.
- Peak achieved. Downhill from here until January.
- Every ornament has a story and I will tell you all of them.
- We do not have a colour scheme. We have history.
- Put it up early. No notes, no regrets.
- The lights work. I am as surprised as you are.
Family photos
- Everyone looked at the camera at the same time. Once.
- Forty photos. This is the only one where nobody is blinking.
- Same people, same room, one year older.
- The annual attempt.
- Not everyone wanted this. It is happening anyway.
Food
- Six hours of work, eleven minutes of eating.
- I made the thing. The thing was good. That is the post.
- Nobody has left the table in two hours and I take that as a review.
- This is not a recipe, it is a warning about portion sizes.
- Started confident. Ended humble. Tasted fine.
Cosy and quiet
- Nowhere to be, which is the entire point.
- Cold outside, warm in here, nothing owed to anyone.
- The good kind of slow.
- Same jumper, third day.
- This is what I was tired for all year.
Funny
- Emotionally I am the last mince pie.
- My personality this month is entirely seasonal and I refuse to explain.
- Dressed for a house with better heating than mine.
- Peaked on the 24th. It is all admin now.
- I have entered my horizontal era.
Honest ones
Not every December post has to be joyful, and the ones that are not tend to get the most sincere replies.
- This time of year is complicated and that is allowed.
- Doing it differently this year, and it is fine.
- Missing someone, and still glad to be here.
- Quieter than usual. Better than usual.
- If this month is hard for you, you are not the only one.
Short ones for stories
- Committed.
- Peak cosy.
- No plans. Deliberate.
- Send more of this.
- Third helping.
For creators posting about work
- Out of office, mentally, since the 12th.
- Scheduled everything in November so I could do nothing this week. Recommend.
- The drafts folder can wait until January.
- Closed the laptop. It stays closed.
Writing your own
The lists above are a starting point and everyone has the same starting point. What performs is specific to you.
Say what the photo does not. The picture shows the tree. The caption should carry the argument about the lights, the ornament with the story, or the fact you put it up in November and stand by it.
Specific beats warm. "Took four hours, two of them untangling" beats "so festive" because it is true and nobody else has that sentence.
Front-load it. Captions truncate. Whatever sits after the "more" link may as well not exist.
Give people something to reply to. An opinion, a question, a confession. Comments come from people having something to say.
One more thing worth saying: December is the month where honest posts outperform polished ones by the widest margin all year. A lot of people find this time of year hard, and the creator who says so plainly usually gets the warmest response they have had all year.
