Evergreen content

Posts that stay useful long after they go up, rather than expiring with a trend.

Evergreen content answers something that will still be asked next year. The opposite is timely content, which is tied to a trend, a moment or a news cycle.

Why it matters more than it used to

On recommendation feeds, a post is not finished when it drops off your followers' timelines. Something made eighteen months ago can be picked up and shown to a large new audience, and evergreen posts are the ones that can survive that without looking dated.

They are also the ones worth repurposing, reposting and linking to from everything else.

What makes something evergreen

  • It answers a question rather than reacting to an event.
  • It avoids dates, prices and platform specifics that will move.
  • It does not depend on a trending sound or format.

The balance

An entirely evergreen account can feel airless and disconnected from anything happening. Most sustainable posting is a mix: timely posts for relevance and reach now, evergreen posts that keep working quietly for years.
