The best time to post on each platform (and why it's a myth)
General 'best time to post' charts are mostly useless. Here's the real answer — and how to find the time that actually works for your audience.

Search "best time to post" and you'll find a hundred charts confidently telling you 9am Tuesday. They're mostly noise — averaged across millions of accounts that look nothing like yours. Here's the honest version.
The generic "best times" (use as a rough default only)
If you have zero data, these are reasonable starting guesses:
- TikTok: early morning (6–9am) and evening (7–11pm).
- Instagram: mid-morning (10–11am) and evening.
- YouTube: early afternoon on weekdays; late morning on weekends.
- LinkedIn: Tuesday–Thursday, 8–10am.
Notice these are broad windows, not magic minutes. Treat them as a place to start testing, nothing more.
Why the charts don't matter much
Two reasons:
- Your audience isn't average. If your followers are night-shift nurses or people in another time zone, a "9am" rule is actively wrong for you.
- Modern algorithms are less time-sensitive. TikTok and Reels surface good content days after posting. A great video posted at a "bad" time still finds its audience.
The only answer that's actually true
The best time to post is when your audience is active — and the only way to know that is your own data. Your platform analytics show when your followers are online. Post around those peaks, then watch which times your posts actually perform, and adjust.
Don't obsess over it
Timing is a small lever compared to the content itself. A mediocre video at the "perfect" time still flops; a great one at 2am still hits. Get it roughly right and move on.
If you want the timing figured out from your own results instead of a generic chart, that's exactly what Vantr's best-time suggestions do — they read your history and tell you when your audience actually shows up, and say so honestly when there isn't enough data yet rather than making something up.
